I found a couple of wooden crates in Poundland a few weeks back and couldn’t resist buying them, who doesn’t love a £1 bargain for their home.
Trimcraft just released a new papercraft collection in collaboration with the V&A, it is beautiful with a capital B! there are some stunning floral prints. These are the papers I used on this up-cycling project.
I will post some pictures at the end of this blog post of other crafts I have made using the papers.
What you will Need
Crate or wooden tray
White chalk paint
V&A 12″x12″ Paper pad
Hot glue gun or Perma-fix double sided tape
How to Make
Make sure you crate is clean and dry. Paint the wooden box with your chosen colour chalk paint. I gave my crate two coats of paint.
Measure the sides of your box, then cut the front, back and side panels to fit. I used a hot glue gun to stick the paper to the crate but strong double sided tape would also work.
You could use a bit of sandpaper to ruff the edges of your crate to give it a vintage, well used look.
And there you have a lovely home decor piece that people wouldn’t think cost a pound to buy. You can use your favourite papers to create a home decor piece and you could also use alphabet stickers to add a quote.
Here are a few more projects that I made using the V&A collection, as you can see it is very versatile for a number of craft projects.
If you make something similar to this up cycled craft, let me know, I always like to see your DIY makes, tag @i_heart_maggie for Instagram or @IHeart_Maggie on twitter.
