My old drink coasters were looking in a rather sorry state, and not one to throw anything out I easily up-cycled them with First Edition Deco Mache.
This design is by Amy Sia and is part of the new range of designs from Trimcraft, I love the greens and purples in this paper.
What you will Need
First Edition Deco Mache Paper
First Edition Deco Mache Glue & Varnish
A light paint (I used DecoArt)
A paintbrush
How to Make
Make sure your coasters are clean of dirt, paint two layers of a light coloured paint on the coasters and leave to dry in-between coats.
Use the coaster as a template, draw around and cut out the paper.
Paint a layer of glue/varnish onto half the coaster, carefully lay the paper down and brush out any air bubbles, add glue to the other half of the coaster and repeat.
Finish with a layer of glue/varnish onto the top of the coaster and leave to dry.
And there you have a brand new set of coasters, you can choose your favourite papers or coordinate the colour theme to our decor.
There are no end of items you can up-cycle with Deco Mache from old bangles to the inside of draws, you can even jazz up tables and chairs, just make sure you buy enough packs for the larger projects, you don’t want to run out.
