I was playing around with the new Dovecraft dies the other day, and created this fun embroidery hoop piece. You probably can’t fail to notice, Cacti are very on-trend right now so this is a great tutorial to make for your home.
What you will Need
Embroidery frame
Fabric
Dovecraft Cactus stamp
Green & black fabric paint & a paintbrush
Green embroidery thread & Needle
Dovecraft alphabet stamps
Foam, Double sided tape and stamping block
How to Make
Take your fabric, I used an old pillow case for mine. Cut to fit your embroidery frame, iron it before you start stamping.
Cover the back of some foam with double sided tape then die cut two cacti from the foam. Cut the plant pot off the bottom and stick the foam shapes together. Mount the cactus onto a stamping block.
Paint a layer of green fabric paint over the cactus and stamp into the middle of your fabric, repeat the steps and stamp two more cacti either side.
Take your alphabet stamps and using the black fabric paint stamp your sentiment, leave to dry.
Once dry, pop the fabric into the embroidery frame. Take your cotton, I used a different green on the middle cactus for definition. Sew a running stitch around the edge of the stamped images.
This frame would make a great addition to your home decor or a fun gift for a friend, If you make one I would love to see it, use @i_heart_maggie for Instagram or @IHeart_Maggie on twitter.
