It’s always good to have a card tutorial that can be made in under ten minutes, for those times you forgot someone’s birthday (oops!) or you don’t have time to spend ages layering papers and gluing on embellishments.
March and April is always a busy period for birthdays, I think I added them all up & had 11 cards to make for my friends and family. Today I talk you through how to make this sweet ribbon card perfect for any occasion.
You Will Need
Dovecraft Pearlescent 5×7 Card
Dovecraft Creative Ribbons
Dovecraft 6mm Perma Fix Tape & Foam squares
First Edition Birthday Dies or general Sentiment
First Edition 8×8 Paper Flowers Paper Pad
First Edition Textured Card
Let’s Get Crafting
Take a neutral paper from the Paper Flowers paper pad, I love this pad by Louise Tiler it’s full of gorgeous flowers and repeat patterns. I chose the peach polka paper as it coordinated with my ribbons. Cut the paper to 12 x 16.5cms
Choose 5 ribbons, cut to 16.5cms in length, add a strip of 6mm perma fix tape to the back of each ribbon and carefully lay them on the card so they are equally spaced, going down the card from top to bottom. You will love the Perma Fix tape it has a really strong bond.
Make sure you’re confident where you stick your ribbon as there is no going back. A top craft tip I found on the Trimcraft forum is to run a glue stick across your tape before sticking it down as this will give you time to move where your tape is placed.
Die cut the Happy Birthday sentiment from the First Edition Birthday die pack, I chose green to match my card, glue the sentiment onto a contrasting piece of card and cut around. Stick it to your card using foam squares.
Mount your paper onto a 5×7 card blank using foam squares and your card is finished!
I gave this card to my friend for her birthday and she loved it, I’m sure your friends and family would also welcome receiving this handmade craft. You can change your design by mixing up your ribbons, it’s a great way of using up your ribbon stash.
