I bought this shelf a while back from Tiger store, it was a bargain at only £4 but looks a little boring. For a long time I wasn’t sure how to up-cycle it but since I now have an obsession with embossing powder it was the clear choice.
What you will Need
Shelf Unit
Paint
Embossing pad & embossing powder
Dovecraft Clear stamp and stamping block
Dovecraft Heat tool ( a hairdryer will also work)
How to Make
Take your shelving unit and paint it in your chosen colour, I used Deco Art chalk paint. You may need two coats to get a good coverage. Leave to dry.
Take your chosen stamp, I used the Dovecraft Bee Happy stamp, mount it on your clear block and ink with the embossing pad. Align your stamp on the inside of the shelf and stamp the image.
Stamp the image all over the back board of the shelf. The embossing pad is clear but if you angle the shelf in the light you can see where you have stamped.
Sprinkle the embossing powder over the stamped images, the powder will stick to the inked design. Tap the sides to ensure the images are covered, then tap off the excess.
Use your heat tool to emboss the image, the powder will turn metallic and leave a gorgeous bee design. Do not touch it straight away leave it to cool and set for a few minutes to avoid smudging the image.
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial, it’s a great way to add a unique touch to your home decor. If you are inspired by this post don’t forget to tag me in your makes , use @i_heart_maggie for Instagram or @IHeart_Maggie on twitter.
