DIY Can I Pet Your Dog Quote T-Shirt

This has the strong possibility to be one of my favourite crafts yet, you know when you are trying to find the perfect quote t-shirt but a) can’t find one and b) you’re not allowed to spend any money on new clothes in 2017, the only option is to get making.

I saw an enamel pin on Pinterest the other week that said ‘can I pet your dog’ I loved it but it was only available in the US and I would much prefer it as a t-shirt, so here I show you how you can easily make your own!

You will Need

Plain T-shirt

Black fabric paint ( I used DecoArt So Soft)

First Edition Alphabet Dies

Dovecraft Foam

Stamping block, paint brush & double-sided tape

How to Make

Decide what quote you would like and die-cut the letters you will need onto foam. I laid the letters out on the t-shirt first so I could work out the best placement.

TIP: For logos or quotes on a t-shirt I was once told that you should measure 4 fingers down from the neck.

Add a bit of double sided tape to an acrylic stamping block and stick your letter onto the block making sure you stick it down backwards, it should read the right way when you look through the top of the block.

Paint a layer of fabric paint onto the foam letter and then carefully align on the t-shirt before pressing down with a firm even pressure.

Stamp the whole quote out and leave to dry for at least 48hours, once dry it can be worn and washed as normal.

I love this craft and can’t wait to make some new clothes out of my old clothes. You can also try creating repeat patterns with your favourite die-cut shapes.
